Alexander P. Zatzos, 94, World War II Veteran

Alexander P. Zatzos, 94, a lifelong resident of Haverhill passed away Friday, April 24 at West Acres, Brockton.

He was born in Haverhill Feb. 13, 1921, son of the late Peter and Athena (Kamberis) Tzatzos. Zatzos was a graduate of Haverhill High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Upon returning from the war, he began his career at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard for many years until his retirement. He was a member of the Holy Apostles Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church in Haverhill. He was a Boston sports fan and also enjoyed gardening.

Zatzos was the brother of the late James P., Angelo P. and Katherine “Kitty” Zatzos. His survivors include nephews James Zatzos of Bridgewater, and Peter Zatzos of Atlanta, Georgia; niece Stacie Zatzos of Atlanta and his great niece Angela Zatzos of Bridgewater.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Tuesday, April 28, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Home, 106 Summer St. Haverhill. His funeral will be held Wednesday beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by Funeral Service at 11 at the Holy Apostles Church, 154 Winter St. Haverhill. Interment with military honors will follow in the Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Holy Apostles Church 154-156 Winter St. Haverhill, MA 01830.
