Robert Lauren Capen, 66, of Haverhill, passed away Friday morning at Holy Family Hospital, Methuen.
Born in Haverhill, Feb. 29, 1949, he was one of 13 children of the late John D. and Gladys E. (Smale) Capen and attended Haverhill schools.
He always loved cooking and had worked at Career Resources. In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, playing bingo and sharing great times with his friends,brothers, sisters and all his nieces and nephews.
He leaves 10 sisters, Doreen Smale of San Antonio, Texas, Nancy E. Barnaby of Dover, N.H., Priscilla J. Capen of Groveland, Barbara Sayers and husband Thomas of Nottingham, N.H., Deborah Baillargeon of Berwick, Maine, Ella Capen of Haverhill, Linda Young and husband Donald of Lebanon, N.H., Beverly Vaughn and husband Daniel of Dover, N.H., Carolyn L. Capen of Groveland, and Sandra Barbuti and husband Joe of Haverhill; several generations of nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews; and many friends. He was predeceased by his only two brothers, David and James.
A graveside service for family and friends will be Friday, May 1, 11 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, Haverhill. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Carolyn Capen 14 Elm Park, Groveland, to benefit the adult men that Robert Capen lived with. Arrangements are by Paul C.
