Police Arrest Man for Robbing, Assaulting Elderly Man

A Haverhill man accused of robbing a senior citizen during a break-in is due in court after his arrest Thursday afternoon.

William Deguio, 52, of Haverhill, was arrested at 1:46 p.m., Thursday, at 20 Ashland St. He is charged with unarmed robbery of a person over 65, assault and battery on a person over 65 and breaking and entering.

In other police news, five people face drug-dealing charges from Haverhill police in connection with three separate investigations.

According to police, Joshua Bernier, 29 and Devon Joy, 37, both of Dover, N.H., were arrested at 11:45 a.m., Thursday, at 795 River St. Each is charged with possession of a class A substance with intent to distribute and conspiracy to violate drug laws.

In a separate case, Haverhill police report Luis Miguel Sanchez, 24, of Lawrence and Luis Eduardo Sanchez, 29, of Providence, R.I., were arrested at 5 p.m., Wednesday, on Arch Avenue. Each is charged with trafficking heroin and possession of a class D substance with intent to distribute. Luis Miguel Sanchez is additionally charged with assault and battery on a police officer, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. He also faces unspecified charges under an outstanding warrant. Luis Eduardo Sanchez is additionally charged with conspiracy to violate drug laws and a school zone violation.

  1. Why don’t police reports include information on whether people being arrested for drugs and other crimes are illegals from other countries??
