Gary S. Bowles, 70, Former Hale Hospital Cook

Gary S. Bowles, 70, passed away April 21, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Born in Caribou, Maine, July 29, 1944, he was the son of Thomas A. Bowles and the late Daisy M. (Grondin) Bowles.

Bowles was educated in Maine and moved to Haverhill with his family at the age of 17. He worked 37 years at the former Hale Hospital as a cook and as an environmental service worker in the housekeeping department. Bowles was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. He often walked at Haverhill Stadium where he enjoyed the robust activity and exercise.

Besides his father, Bowles is survived by his daughter, Amy Augustonovich and husband Mike of Haverhill; grandsons, Alex and Nathan Cordeiro of Haverhill; brothers, David N. Bowles of Haverhill, Thomas H. Bowles and wife Sandra of Bow, N.H.; sister, Carol Sanford and husband Douglas of Haverhill; and several nieces and nephews

Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral Saturday, April 25, at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church, 217 Main Street, Haverhill. Calling hours at Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, will be Friday, from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment at Riverview Cemetery.
