WHAV Seeks Part-Time Newspaper-Style Writer and Editor

Public Media of New England Inc., owner of Haverhill’s highly respected, hyperlocal news website and licensee of WHAV-LP 97.9 FM, is seeking a part-time newspaper-style writer and editor.

The successful candidate must demonstrate dependability, self-starting skills, commitment to accuracy, tenacity in nailing down stories, strong ethics, excellent English spelling and grammar, exceptional knowledge of AP Style, ability to work well and quickly under deadline pressure, mastery of Microsoft Word, solid PC skills and above-average attention to detail. Abilities to resize photographs in Photoshop, use WordPress, record and edit digital audio and voice news reports are all pluses.

The early morning position requires either prior newspaper experience or significant college reporting experience, including any work on college TV, radio, newspapers or literary publications.

This is a unique opportunity for a recent college graduate looking to build a strong resume or grow with an entrepreneurial news operation. Before any position is offered, candidates will be tested under deadline pressure.
