A traffic stop by police in Salem, N.H. Thursday lead to the arrests of three Haverhill residents on drug dealing and weapons charges, according to Salem Police.
Shauna Dalrymple, 21, of Haverhill, was charged with transporting drugs in a motor vehicle, operating without a valid license and carrying a handgun without a license. John Osborne, 23, of Haverhill, was charged with being a felon in possession of a handgun and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute. Devaughn Johnson, 20, of Haverhill, was charged with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and falsifying physical evidence. Dalrymple was released on $5,000 personal recognizance bail and is due to be arraigned in Salem district court on June 15. Osborne and Johnson are due to be arraigned Friday at an unspecified New Hampshire court.
“At approximately 12:41 p.m., Officer Nicholas Turner was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Mall Road and Rockingham Park Boulevard. As he was waiting in traffic he observed a black 2002 Honda Accord commit a motor vehicle infraction and nearly drive into a guardrail. He pulled out behind the vehicle and conducted a stop on the on-ramp to Interstate 93,” a spokesperson said.
Police said Osborne and Johnson were observed moving around and reaching under their seats. A strong odor of marijuana was detected from the vehicle. “Upon speaking with the three occupants, Officer Turner was able to learn the front male passenger had handed a large bag of marijuana to the rear passenger to hide. As a result, all three occupants were arrested and placed into custody,” a spokesperson said. “As Officer Turner approached the vehicle again he observed the grip of a handgun under the front passenger seat.”
Police said a subsequent search of the vehicle located a loaded .357 magnum handgun under the front seat where a passenger was seen reaching during the initial stop. A bag of marijuana the occupants had previously admitted to hiding, as well as ammunition, a scale and “items associated with drug packaging and use” were also found.
