Kiyoko ‘Kay’ (Sobue) Huntress, 78

Kiyoko “Kay” (Sobue) Huntress, 78, of Haverhill, died Sunday morning, April 5, at Wingate Nursing Home in Haverhill.

She was born in Harbin, China, Jan. 22, 1937 and was educated in Japan. She came to the United States in 1958 and was employed as a seamstress at Samuel Roberts. Huntress enjoyed many hobbies, such as gardening, sewing and cooking. Organizations she was involved in included her church, where she served as a deaconess for many years. Huntress also volunteered at the Salvation Army in her retirement years and was volunteer of the year in 2009.

Huntress was the wife of the late Norman Huntress who died in 2001. Her survivors include the following: a son, Norman Huntress Jr. and his wife, Nancy of Newton, N.H. and their three children, Amy, Allison and husband Ian, and Andrew; daughter, Tina Kalian and her husband Kenneth of Haverhill, and their four children: Srun, K.Connor, Reanna and her husband Joseph, and Deanna; daughter, Donna Venturo and her husband Fredrick of Haverhill; and their three children, Heather and her husband Lance, Sara, and Amber; great grandchildren Neviah and Madelyn and several nieces and nephews.

Her family will be receiving relatives and friends at Transformation Road Church, 284 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill,  Sunday afternoon, April 12, from 1 to 2 p.m., with a Memorial Service at 2 p.m. followed by refreshments at the church. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family at Hillside Cemetery, Haverhill. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Haverhill and Bradford.
