Michael S. ‘Mickey’ Stack, 95, World War II Army Air Corps Veteran

Michael S. “Mickey” Stack, 95 of Haverhill, died Friday, March 27, at his home, surrounded by his family.

A native and lifelong resident of Haverhill, he was the son of the late John and Sophie (Paz) Stachulski, and attended local schools including Haverhill High School. He served as a surgical technician and private in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, The American Theater Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.

Following his honorable discharge from the service, Stack returned to Haverhill and was first employed by the Gingras Leather Co. and later as a baker at 20th Century Bakery and as a milkman for the former Wason-MacDonald Dairy. He was most recently employed as the senior custodian at Saint James School until his retirement. He was a member of All Saints Parish of Haverhill, the former Saint Michael’s Parish and AmVets Post 147.

Stack was often seen sporting his black Stetson and driving his shiny red Lebaron convertible around town. He knew how to have fun and make good use of every moment of his day including family cookouts around the pool, road trips with his wife and children to visit family in New York and California, fun family trips to Salisbury Beach, Canobie Lake Park and Carter’s Ice Cream on warm summer nights. Above all, his wife and children came first. He attended every event and celebration for his children and grandchildren. As a devoted husband and father, he will be remembered most for the tremendous loved that he gave to his family each and every day.
