Police this morning were directing traffic away from Winter Street as SWAT vehicles and an ambulance blocked access.
The action involved the execution of a search warrant near Lafayette Square, detective Captain Robert P. Pistone told WHAV, but he did not elaborate.
The intersection of Winter Street and Lafayette was closed to traffic before 6 this morning as officers redirected southbound traffic in Lafayette Square onto Essex Street. At least one ambulance and a SWAT unit vehicle from the NorthEast Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) were also observed nearby. However, Pistone told WHAV, “No need for the public to be concerned.”
NEMLEC is a consortium of police departments in Middlesex and Essex Counties, and two County Sheriff’s Departments.
This is a developing story. WHAV will bring you further updates as they become available from Haverhill Police.
The Feds are everywhere in Haverhill. I wonder how many arrests they have made in the city since they have been here ?
