Haverhill firefighter Tyler C. Kimball, who ran a write-in campaign for mayor in 2013, said he hasn’t ruled out a run this year.
Kimball, former president of Firefighters Union 1011 and owner of Kimball Farm on East Broadway, received 2,191 votes without formally appearing on the ballot and after only a two-week campaign. Fiorentini, a then-five-term incumbent, received 6,490 votes.
“I’m thinking it over and will be consulting with my committee,” Kimball told WHAV this week.
Fiorentini raised $22,265.44 during the 2013 reporting period, while Kimball raised $13,147.06 during his brief campaign. Kimball spent all of the money he raised, while Fiorentini spent about half.
“Mayor James Fiorentini of Haverhill, who reported spending $11,190 for an average of $1.72 per vote. His opponent, Tyler Kimball, spent $6 per vote in an unsuccessful write-in campaign,” said a report by the state Office of Campaign and Political Finance.
Good luck Mr. Kimball. Sadly, you should have started to run again the day after you lost. It takes constantly being involved and in front of people’s faces to break through enough to challenge this Mayor. He has been courting voters for 20 years. Regardless of what people may think of him, he knows who votes and how to get them on his side. He is also willing to spend a ton of money of needed to keep the office.
