Dorothy A. (Conradsen) Gordon, 86, Former Hale Nurse

Dorothy A. (Conradsen) Gordon, 86, formerly of Haverhill, passed away March 20, at the Colonial Poplin Nursing Home in Fremont, N.H.

Gordon was the widow of William M. (Will) Gordon, to whom she was married for 48 years. She was the sister of the late Harvey C. Conradsen, She was born in Haverhill April 18, 1928, the daughter of the late Harvey M. and Hilda (Caswell) Conradsen.

Gordon graduated from Haverhill High School in 1946, then attended the Lawrence General Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned her RN certificate and cap. After marriage, she travelled with her husband, who proudly served in the U.S. Navy for 20 years. When his service ended they returned to Haverhill and she resumed nursing at the Hale Hospital for several years. After they moved to Atkinson, N.H., she left nursing and pursued a second vocation as a librarian, working at the Kimball Library. The Gordons were active members of the Atkinson Congregational Church where she continued after her husband’s passing, serving on committees and volunteering whenever needs arose.

Gordon’s life reflects a deep and lasting commitment and dedication to her beloved family, friends, church and community. She was a vibrant participant in all facets of her life, and memories of her will remain with us always. Dorothy is survived by a number of nieces, nephews, and in-laws.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral Wednesday, March 25, at 11:00 a.m., at the Atkinson Congregational Church. Calling hours at the church will precede the funeral from 10 to 11 a.m. Interment at Linwood Cemetery will be private. Arrangements by Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill.
