A Haverhill massage parlor has been ordered closed and one of its operators has been summonsed to appear in court for allegedly providing sexual conduct for a fee.
Haverhill Police detectives with assistance from FBI, Homeland Security and Immigration, Massachusetts Division of Professional Licensure and Massachusetts Department of Industrial Accidents yesterday afternoon converged on Rest & Relaxation Bodywork & Foot Massage, 219 River St.
Yan Liang, 51, of Woodside, N.Y., will be charged with sexual conduct for a fee. The Division of Professional Licensure also issued two $1,000 citations for operating an unlicensed massage facility and being an unlicensed massage therapist. Haverhill detectives also seized more than $2,000 cash, Pistone said.
A search warrant, issued by Haverhill District Court, was based on a month-long investigation into the massage parlor for alleged sexual conduct for a fee, which had been advertised on the website Backpage.com, under the adult, body rub section, Captain Robert P. Pistone said.
The Department of Industrial Accidents also closed the business immediately for failure to adhere to Massachusetts Workers’ Compensation laws. The investigation is ongoing, and other charges may be forthcoming against other individuals associated with the business.
