Sara (Balian) Vosgarichian, 90, Former Shoe Worker

Sara (Balian) Vosgarichian, 90, longtime Haverhill resident, passed away at Penacook Place in Haverhill. She was the wife of the late Hemayag Vosgarichian, to whom she had been married more than 50 years.

Vosgarichian was born in Cuba on Dec. 27, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Hagop and Hripsime (Bosnian) Balian. She was a graduate of Haverhill High School and worked many years in Haverhill’s thriving shoe industry.

Sshe loved cooking and enjoyed hosting dinners and functions for family and friends. Vosgarichian was a very charitable person, devoted to helping others. She was everybody’s “best friend.” She attended the Armenian Church at Hye Pointe in Haverhill for many years. She liked to stay up to date on Armenian news and was a 50-year member of the Armenian Relief Society.

She is survived by her brother, Levon Balian and his wife Emma of Watertown, along with several nieces, nephews and dear friends.

An hour of visitation will take place Friday, March 20, from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Armenian Apostolic Church at Hye Pointe, 110 Main Street, Haverhill, immediately followed by services at the church and burial at Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Armenian Relief Society, 80 Bigelow Avenue,Watertown, MA 02472. Arrangements are by Paul C.
