Three men are facing charges from Massachusetts state police in an alleged stabbing and carjacking in the south coast region against a Haverhill man.
According to state police, troopers from the Dartmouth barracks responded at about 1:45 a.m., Monday, to a 911 call from a 24-year-old male from the Bradford section. He was found at the side of I-195 in Swansea after reporting he was driving three men from Rhode Island to Fall River when, after an argument, he was stabbed twice and thrown and thrown from the vehicle onto I-195. The victim had to roll out of the travel lane to avoid being struck by a passing vehicle.
A short time later, after an alert issued to area police, a state police Sergeant located the 1996 Ford Crown Victoria driving on Davol Street in Fall River. The vehicle was stopped as it pulled into a local convenience store parking lot.
Following an investigation, three occupants of the vehicle were placed under arrest and taken to the State Police Barracks in Dartmouth for booking. Troopers located a knife under a floor mat in the back seat.
Nathaniel F. Pires, 21, Abner S. Juarez, 23 and Kevin T. Fragoso, 21, all of Fall River, are being held pending court arraignment Monday in Fall River District Court. Each is charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and armed carjacking. Pires faces an additional charge of carrying a dangerous weapon.
