Ruth A. (Kenney) (Kimball) Sargent, 75

Ruth A. (Kenney) (Kimball) Sargent, 75, of Haverhill died March 2 at Lawrence General Hospital.

Born in Plaistow, N.H., daughter of the late Byron B. and Olive (Gaudette) Kenney, Sargent attended the Pollard School and Haverhill High School.

As a young woman, Sargent was employed at Allen Shoe Company. She was later employed at Clicker City and David’s Glass Company and, most recently, as a customer service representative at Wal-Mart, Plaistow, N.H.  Sargent was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary in Raymond, N.H. Known as “Ma Kimball” to all of the neighborhood children, Sargent never turned away anyone who needed a warm meal, a friendly smile and a roof over their heads.

She was predeceased by her husband of 26 years, Earle Sargent Jr. who died in 2011 and her son, Charles Kimball, and is survived by five sons, Theodore Kimball of Haverhill, Joseph Kimball and his wife Cindy of Londonderry, N.H., Carleton Kimball of North Carolina, Michael Kimball of Haverhill and Byron Kimball and his wife Ann of Epping, N.H.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Lin-Ann and Chet Jones of White Cloud, Mich., Kim and Lee Gonyer of Raymond, N.H., and Christine and Richard Burnes of Derry, N.H.; three step-children and their spouses, William E. and Tammy Sargent of Danville, N.H., Richard E. and Dolores Sargent of Danville, N.H., and Debra and Albert Desmarais of Haverhill; a sister, Celina Richardson of Florida; 20 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, many great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sargent’s Life Celebration Saturday, March 7, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA. A private graveside service will take place in the spring. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 2 Wall Street, Manchester, NH 03101.
