New Haverhill Group Says Your Face Can Change the World

An example of Inside Out’s implementation in France.

A Haverhill group wants your photograph as part of a “global art project that transforms messages of personal identity into pieces of artistic work.”

“Inside Out Haverhill: Sprit and Souls” seeks to use photographic portraits of individuals as part of the “Inside Out Project.” The project aims to “raise awareness of our community and the creativity that exists.”

“The purpose of the project is to raise awareness of the creative spirit and soul of our community; Take your portrait using our theme to explain our community’s unheard story,” a group spokesperson said.

The group is “seeking Riverfront Arts District building and business owners” for display spaces and “Haverhill residents young and old, artists, students, employees” to be photographed.

An organizational event takes place from 3 to 7 p.m., Monday, March 23, at Maria’s Function Hall, 81 Essex Street. Cost is $20.

On March 2, 2011, a person named “JR” won a $1 million prize at the TED Conference in Long Beach, California. JR called for the creation of Inside Out, a global participatory art project “with the potential to change the world.”

  1. LOVE THIS CONCEPT FOR A PUBLIC ART PROJECT!!!
Haverhill has so many hidden gems in the people who work. live, play, and learn here. This project raised awareness of our local talents; the person who makes your morning coffee at the local coffee shop, the barbers that cut your hair, the makeup artists, the dedicated Police , Fire, Ambulance. Open Heart Pantry, the local community radio and TV , the teachers, the curious minded students, and the innovative artists, chefs, business think tanks, etc…. Haverhill has rich history …we have 5 museums that I hope could express the City’s Spirit and Soul. They say a picture is worth a thousand words……. Haverhill has Spirit and Souls that should be recognized and brought to the forefront!!
This project allows diverse participation. Visit INSIDEOUTHAVERHILL.blogspot.com or Facebook INSIDE OUT HAVERHILL to learn more and become involved ,
