Sandown Seeks to Fill Vacant Selectman Position

The Sandown, N.H. Board of Selectmen is seeking local candidates to fill a vacancy on that panel by appointment, according to an announcement by the town of Sandown.

Selectman Stephen Brown is stepping down as of March 10.

“The board is seeking letters of interest from any Sandown resident considering this open selectman position. The term of office runs until the next election in March, 2016,” a town spokesperson said.

The Sandown Board of Selectmen is accepting letters of interest from individuals wishing to fill the opening until 4 p.m., Thursday, March 12. Letters may be either hand delivered to the selectmen’s offices at 320 Main Street, Sandown, during regular business hours, or by mail to Sandown Board of Selectmen, P.O. Box 1756, Sandown, N.H. 03873. For more information, visit the town website at www.Sandown.us.

Meanwhile, Sandown voters head to the polls for the 2015 town elections from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 10. Voters will cast ballots on 19 warrant articles, including elections for town office, town budget and a resolution calling upon Sandown’s congressional delegation “to enact a constitutional amendment to regulate spending on state elections by out of state groups.”

Sandown resident Craig Buffinton, lead petitioner for article 17, said the 2014 Senate race for N.H. was the tenth most expensive in the U.S., coming in at nearly $26 million. At last month’s deliberative session, he suggested much of that came from outside Political Action Committees (PACs).
