Estelle C. (Payette) Bradley, 95, a native and lifelong resident of Haverhill, died Saturday, Feb. 21, 2015 at Penacook Place, following a brief illness.
Daughter of the late Adelard and Corinne (Boisselle) Payette, she attended Saint Joseph Grammar School and was a member of the Haverhill High School Class of 1937. She also attended MacIntosh Business School.
As a young woman, Bradley worked as a billing clerk at the former Mitchell’s Department Store on Merrimack Street. She then devoted a large part of her life to being a housewife and homemaker for her husband and family of a six children. In her later years she was employed by the Internal Revenue Service, retiring in 1983.
A member of All Saints Parish and the former St. Joseph Parish, Bradley was a life member and former treasurer of the Ladies of Saint Anne Society and a member of the former Amicale d’Youville, the PTC and the Bingo Committee. An avid bowler she was a longtime member of the Saint Joseph Bowling League. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting.
The wife of H. Paul Bradley, to whom she was married for 63 years until his death in 2008, she and her late husband were devoted to their family and to their faith. They were daily Mass attendees until illness prevented them from their devotion and there was nothing more meaningful to them then spending time with family. Mrs. Bradley never lost her sense of humor or her ability to laugh at herself, even in her later years.
Survivors include her daughter, Sr. Paula Bradley, sco, Lowell; five sons, Alan R. Bradley and his wife Sharon of Woodbridge, Virg., Kenneth R. Bradley and his wife Cynthia of Haverhill, Gary J. Bradley and his wife Elaine of Haverhill, Richard W. Bradley of South Lawrence and his fiancé Margaret Broderick, and Thomas J. Bradley and his wife Diana of Woodbridge, Virg.; 11 grandchildren, Kimberly Gerhardt, Alison Thoman, Sheri Kaupa, Christopher Bradley, Daryl Bradley, Daniel Bradley, Danae Fournier, Aaron Bradley, Ryan Bradley, Conor Bradley and Ellen Carter; 11 great grandchildren; and several nieces , nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her life celebration Friday, Feb. 27, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill. Burial will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
