Marguerite T. (Lemerise) Houle, 90, Former Shoe Worker

Marguerite T. (Lemerise) Houle, 90, formerly of Mission Towers, Haverhill, died Feb. 10, at Merrimack Valley Healthcare Center in Amesbury.

Born in Haverhill, daughter of the late Henry and M. Matilda (D’Aoust) Lemerise, her family moved to Canada when she was young. She returned to the United States at the age of eight and attended St. Joseph School and Haverhill High School.

As a young woman, Houle worked in the local shoe factories. She was later employed at DiBurro’s Function Facility where she worked as a waitress for functions for many years. Houle was also employed at Western Electric and AT&T Technologies as an assembler until her retirement.

A former resident of Angle Street and Lowell Avenue in Haverhill for more than 25 years, Houle moved to St. Petersburg, Fla., in 1982 and returned to the city in 1999, where she resided on Broad Street in Haverhill.

A member of All Saints Parish and the former St. Joseph Parish, Houle was a member of the St. Joseph Bowling League in her younger years. The kitchen was her domain and she enjoyed baking and cooking French cuisine. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

She was predeceased by her husband, Paul H. Houle, and is survived by her sons, Paul Michael Houle and his wife Wendy of Salem, N.H., Dennis A. Houle and his companion Kathy Davison of Bradford, Kevin G. Houle of Haverhill, and Mark R. Houle of Haverhill; her daughters, Diane C. Coburn and her husband Larry of Bradford, Judy A. Houle of Haverhill, and Lisa S. Burns and her husband Thomas of Mechanicsville, Virg.; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Houle of Haverhill; three brothers, Bernard Lemerise of Hampton, N.H., Robert Lemerise of Haverhill and Henry Lemerise of Florida; a sister, Claire Duchemin of Arizona; 13 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Private family funeral services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA.
