Raymond J. Thibault, 89, World War II Veteran

Raymond J. Thibault, 89, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, passed away Monday, Feb. 9, at Holy family Hospital, Methuen, after a brief illness.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of Rene and Mary D. (Butler) Thibault. Educated in Haverhill Public Schools, he was a graduate of Haverhill trade School, class of 1943. Shortly after graduation he enlisted into the Navy. A veteran of World War II, he proudly served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1946.

An electrician by trade, Thibault began his career working for a local electrician. He then worked for the Haverhill Paperboard and spent the next 28 years as an electrical inspector for Western Electric and retired from AT&T in North Andover. A sports fan, he enjoyed the Red Sox and Patriots, he loved summers at the beach, and traveling.

He met Marie R. German and they married in June of 1946. They raised three children, living in Ward Hill section and later relocating off of North Broadway. The Widower of Marie R. (German) who died in 2007, he was devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

He leaves a son Rene Thibault and his wife, Jacqueline, of Chester, N.H.; two daughters, Jane M. Sullivan and her husband, William, of Plaistow, N.H., and Kathleen Brown, of Haverhill; 11 grandchildren, Justin Thibault, Matthew Thibault, Christopher Thibault, Holly Thibault, Kimberly Sullivan, Kristin Gorton, Kelly Sullivan, Kevin Sullivan, Ian Brown, Nathan Brown, and Nicole Bullock; 16 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two brothers, Richard and his wife, Rose, of Medfield, Mass., and Robert and Ann Marie, of Atkinson, N.H. He was predeceased by his brothers, Bernard and William Thibault and sisters Dorothy Beaudoin and Mary Cerasuolo.

Friends and family are invited to call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (route 125) Haverhill. Funeral services will begin Friday morning at 9 from the funeral home with a mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Ave. Haverhill. Burial will follow with military honors at St. Joseph Cemetery, Hilldale Ave. Haverhill.
