Haverhill Public Schools are opening on a two-hour delay, but there is no morning kindergarten on Tuesday, according to Superintendent James F. Scully.

He advises parents of children walking to school to warn them of possible snow bank and traffic dangers.

“The adverse weather that we have been facing has caused problems for many but the decisions that I have been making are for the children of Haverhill–with their safety being my primary consideration. I would strongly urge you to discuss with your children the dangers of these huge snow banks and the fact that automobiles are having trouble negotiating some areas. I have received various communications from state officials and later this week I am hoping to communicate with you the actual impact these storms will have on our schedule,” Scully said.

Whittier Regional Technical High School, Haverhill, also has a two hour delayed opening on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Mayor James J. Fiorentini is thanking residents for their patience.

“I asked everyone—unprecedented, we’ve never done it before—to keep all cars off the road. And I would say, 95 percent or better of the public complied,” Fiorentini told WHAV’s Open Mike Show listeners last night.

He acknowledged rising tensions as storm after storm adds more snow.

“I know it’s tough. People are losing their patience and I don’t blame them. They’re frustrated, but overwhelmingly people have worked with us, and I just want to say thank you.”
