Paul D. Burnell, 70, Vietnam Veteran

NORTH ANDOVER – Paul D. Burnell, 70, a longtime North Andover resident, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 4, at the Oxford Nursing Home in Haverhill after a lengthy illness.

Born and raised in Haverhill, he was the son of the late, Milton W. and Eleanor (Page) Burnell. He attended Haverhill public schools. A Vietnam Veteran, he served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1965. He was a member of AMVETS Post 147, Haverhill.

Burnell was employed as a security guard at the University of Massachusetts, Lowell campus, for many years.

He leaves a son, Geoffrey Burnell and his wife, Marisamaryianna, of Centerville; three brothers, Richard M. and his wife, Betty Burnell, of Haverhill, Norman Burnell and his wife, Donna, of Lewiston, Maine, and John Burnell, of Haverhill; a sister, Marlene Rodier, of Candia, N.H., and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sisters, Frances McLean and Carol A.E. Sulesky.

Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend a memorial Service Thursday at noon in the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. (route 125) Haverhill. His family will receive guests in the Funeral Home from 11 a.m. until noon, Thursday.
