Joanne R. (Bassani) Barberio, 83, Western Electric Employee

Joanne R. (Bassani) Barberio, 83, of Haverhill died Feb. 2,  at the Merrimack Valley Hospital, Haverhill.

Born, raised and educated in Haverhill, daughter of the late Charles and Katherine (Gardella) Bassani, she graduated from Haverhill High School with the Class of 1949.

Barberio was employed as a solderer and layout operator for Western Electric and AT&T Technologies, from where she retired.

A member All Saints Parish and the former St. Rita’s Parish, Barberio was also a member of the Communication Workers of America Local 1365 and the Telephone Pioneers of America. She enjoyed reading and cooking.

She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Barberio, and is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas A. and Jane Barberio of Haverhill, two daughters, Karen A. Berube and her husband Russell of Raymond, N.H., and Susan M. Disabato of Haverhill, three grandchildren, Jesse Berube of Bar Friday Harbor, WA, Katie (Berube) Berntsen of Raymond, NH, and Michael Fougere of Haverhill, and four great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may call Tuesday, Feb. 10, from 4 to 6:45 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA. Mrs. Barberio’s funeral service will follow at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
