Methuen Heroin Bust Nets Three Suspects

Three people face heroin trafficking charges in connection with an investigation Wednesday by the Methuen Police Narcotics Unit and the Essex County Sherriff’s Department Investigations Unit.

According to Methuen Police, a hand-to-hand drug transaction was observed at about 3:30 p.m., Wednesday, in the area of 446 Prospect Street. Arrested were Sergio Martinez, 25, of Lawrence; Jose Polanco, 23, of Lawrence; and Shannon Roussel, 44, of Sidney, Maine. A Methuen Police spokesperson said Polanco originally gave an alias of Joan Melendez and had three outstanding warrants for his arrest. Polanco had been arrested on two previous occasions by the Lawrence Police Department for Distribution of Heroin.

Pending their arraignments in Lawrence District Court, bail for Sergio Martinez was set at $250,000 cash. Shannon Roussel’s bail was set at $100,000 cash and Jose Polanco was held without bail, police said.

In other police news, a Haverhill woman is due to be arraigned in district court on drunk driving charges following her arrest late Thursday night.

Haverhill Police report Irma Osores, 26, of Haverhill, was arrested at 11:20 p.m., Thursday, at 79 Willie Street. She is charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of liquor, wanton destruction of property and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
