Haverhill City Council business during its next regular meeting, scheduled at 7 p.m., tonight, will include agenda items carried over from its cancelled Jan. 27 meeting, according to council President John A. Michitson.

On the prior agenda, postponed by the blizzard of 2015, a scheduled continuance of a public hearing on a special permit request to renovate an unoccupied building at 13 High Street into six residential apartments. Petitioner Ketti Fronduto, trustee of 13 High Street Realty Trust, also proposes nine parking spaces on a vacant lot across the street. Attorney William Faraci, representing Fronduto, will present a final revision of plans, including new maps, for the renovation project.

Michitson also wants to discuss broadband Internet access.

Also, councilors are being asked to approve new salary ordinances for city department heads, administrators and other non-union employees, as well as to authorize payments of prior years’ bills from current budget appropriations to various city departments. They include an outstanding school department bill of $8,993 from Verizon.

Under new business, the Fiorentini administration requests the council declare an emergency “involving the health and safety of the public…providing for payment in excess of appropriation for snow and ice removal.” In a letter to the council, Mayor Fiorentini said last week’s historic blizzard depleted and created a deficit to the city’s snow removal budget. The move would allow the city to seek financial aid for the excess snow removal costs.

The Haverhill City Council will meet in council chambers at Haverhill City Hall.
