Who Was that Masked Man Anyway? Police Closing In

Police may have a break in the case of a robbery by a masked man last Friday.

The robbery took place at the Mobil Mart convenience store, 789 South Main St, in the Ward Hill section of Haverhill, according to detective Lieutenant Robert Pistone, Haverhill police spokesperson.

“Haverhill Detectives are working the case and have gathered evidence which has led to the development of suspects in the case,” Pistone told WHAV.

Haverhill Police were assisted in their initial search for the robber by a K-9 unit from the Essex County Sherriff’s department. Surveillance video from the convenience store and gas station facility was reportedly used by investigators.

A store clerk reported to police a man, about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, wearing dark clothes and a mask, rushed the sales counter at about 9 p.m. and demanded money from the cash register while holding his left hand in a pocket. A weapon was not displayed. The suspect fled with an undetermined amount of cash after ordering the clerk to lie on the floor and not look at him, or he would shoot the clerk.
