Massachusetts State Police report there were no injuries in this rollover accident on I-495 southbound yesterday in Chelmsford. The driver was wearing a safety belt.
As local communities continue to dig out from the Blizzard of 2015, a third day of public schools closures in Haverhill, Andover and Methuen for maintenance crews to complete snow removal and other preparations for the safety of returning students.
Haverhill and Methuen city halls are among local government offices to reopen today–the first time since Tuesday’s blizzard dumped about 30 or more inches of snowfall locally. Methuen reportedly received 31.5 inches of snow.
Meanwhile, the lifting of a so-called “extreme snow emergency” at 6 p.m. last night in Haverhill means overnight parking on city streets has reverted back to normal winter parking rules. However, a storm parking ban is now “voluntary,” according to the City of Haverhill website. In an online post, Haverhill Mayor James J. Fiorentini said, “If you have off-street parking, please continue to use it. Please park on the odd side of the street only if you have no other place to park.”
For the remainder of January, overnight street parking is allowed on the odd-numbered side. Beginning Sunday, February 1, parking will be on the even-numbered side. The odd-even parking rule applies to the numbered month of the year. For example, January, the first month of the year, is refered as month “1,” an odd number.
