Norma E. (St.Onge) Jardine, 86, a lifelong resident of Haverhill, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, at Holy family Hospital at Merrimack Valley with her family by her side, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Haverhill, she was the daughter of John P. and Etta D. (Jensen) St.Onge. She attended Haverhill public schools, and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1946.
Jardine was employed at the Credit Bureau and Howard Johnson’s Motor Lodge in Haverhill. She was a crossing guard for the City Of Haverhill for a number of years, a job she loved and which she was very proud of. Most of her career was spent as a Paraprofessional in administration of the Haverhill High School, retiring in 1988.
Along with her husband, Warren they spent many winters in Florida and summers in Maine. She especially loved her seaside campsite in York, Maine overlooking Nubble Light. Her family joked that she was the unofficial caretaker of the light. A talented seamstress, she made her wedding gown and all of her Bridesmaids dresses.
A wife, mother and grandmother, she is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Warren C. Jardine, of Haverhill, daughters; Pamela Desando, and Pat Jardine and her husband, John Davis, of Haverhill, a son, James Jardine and his girlfriend, Kerry Buckley, of Andover, three cherished grandchildren, Tamara and Jaden Jardine, of Andover and Michael Davis, of Sydney, Australia. She also leaves her brother and sister in law, James E. and Elaine St. Onge, of Kingston, N.H.. She was predeceased by her firstborn child, Jill Caron, who passed at the age of 10 in 1961.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Hannah Duston Healthcare Center for their kindness and compassionate care of Jardine over the past several years.
Friends and family are respectfully invited to attend funeral services for Jardine on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. Haverhill. Calling hours will precede the funeral service from 10 to 1:30.
