Pauline Marie (Soucy) Paré, 95, of Haverhill, died Thursday, Jan. 22, at her home.
She was born Sunday, June 15, 1919 (Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus) in Grand-Isle, Maine. “A woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates.” Proverbs 31-30-31
She was predeceased by her husband, Herman Paré. She is survived by her six children, Paula Paré of Haverhill, Gerard Paré and his wife Jackie, of Seabrook, N.H., Anne Horgan and her husband Robert of Haverhill, Judith Tracey and her husband Wayne of Haverhill, Patricia Paduano and her husband Allan of Haverhill, and James Paré and his wife, Elizabeth, of Whitman, and Karen Everette of Haverhill, who was like another dear daughter to Pauline, nine grandchildren, Erin Lavallee, Timothy Horgan, Courtney Church, Seanna Mejia, Allyson Dawkins, Jason Paré, Janine Paré, Mark Paré, and Theodore Paré, and 12 great-grandchildren. Pauline is also survived by one brother, Gerald Soucy, an uncle, Gordon Violette, and several cousins.
She was the daughter of the late Abel and Adele (Violet) Soucy. Having grown up in Lawrence, Paré attended local schools and was a graduate of Sacred Hearts High School, Class of 1937. After high school, she worked at Philips Academy as a dining room server and later as a payroll clerk at Pacific Mills in Lawrence. From 1962 through 1983, she worked at Western Electric as a wire-board assembler. She retired after 21 years of dedicated service. A devout practicing Catholic, Paré was a life-long parishioner of All Saints Parish and the former St. Joseph Parish and was a faithful member of the Ladies of St. Anne.
Pauline raised her six children in Haverhill. Generous, grateful, selfless, kind-hearted, prayerful and faith-filled, she was a woman whose strength, wisdom and sense of humor touched her family and friends in special ways throughout her life. She was her children’s, grandchildren’s, and great-grandchildren’s biggest fan and found the best in everyone she met. She left her family with precious memories including her “Monday Night’ dinners”, Christmas Eve open house, birthday celebrations, occasional trips to Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods. An excellent cook, she often sacrificed filling special orders from her family and friends for her very best ‘home-made’ meat pies and baked beans.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Life Celebration Sunday, Jan. 25 from 3 to 7 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral will be Monday, Jan. 26 at 9 a.m. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
