The Haverhill City Council is set to vote tonight on a tentative contract agreement between the city and employees from the engineering group, Teamsters local 170.

Under the two-year agreement, retroactive from July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2014, the positions of junior draftsperson, senior engineering aide and assistant civil engineer will receive a 1.5 percent salary increase each year, a travel mileage reimbursement rate increase to 44 cents per mile in the second year and revised health insurance language for co-payment reimbursements, reflecting the city’s joining the state Group Insurance Commission (GIC) plans, offered by the Public Employee Commission (PEC), since the previous contract agreement.

Also on tonight’s council agenda, councilors will hear a request from Councilor Michael S. McGonagle to have two traffic intersections referred for review by the Traffic and Safety Committee. The request includes the intersections of Broadway and Lowell Avenue as well as Lincoln Avenue at Grovleand Street, near the Bates Bridge and Groveland town line.

Also, council President John A Michitson will “present his view on goals and priorities for the Haverhill City Council in 2015.”

The Haverhill City Council meets at 7 p.m., tonight, in council chambers at Haverhill City Hall.
