Community Turns Out in Methuen to Support Police

A “standing room only” turnout Thursday evening at an interfaith vigil in Methuen showing a sense of community and support for local police.

The 45-minute candlelight vigil at Saint Monica’s Church in Methuen marked an “evening of unity and prayer with members of our community,” according to a Methuen Police spokesperson. Officials, including Methuen Police Chief Joseph Solomon, expressed their thanks as the gathering was “full of new faces, old faces, families, brothers and sisters in blue, religious members from many faiths, and our future….children.”

The Methuen vigil was organized, according to Solomon, “to reaffirm the positive community-police relationship that we have enjoyed, here in Methuen and in the greater Merrimack Valley.”
