Former City Councilor ‘Fran’ Perry Dies at 89

Former Haverhill police officer and city councilor Francis John “Fran” Perry, 89, passed away at his home in Bradford Sunday, Jan. 11, surrounded by his family.

Perry was a former president of the Haverhill City Council, who crafted the prayer still read before each city council meeting. He served as a city councilor from 1962 to 1972. Perry also served in Navy during World War II, was president of the Haverhill Lions Club during 1983 and 1984 and was a long-time chairman and member of the Haverhill Citizens Hall of Fame. He also retired as a manager with New England Telephone.

He was born July 15, 1925.

A memorial service is planned. Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Driscoll Funeral Home.
