WHAV Earns GuideStar Bronze Transparency Rating

Public Media of New England Inc., parent of WHAV, today received the GuideStar Exchange Bronze participation level, a leading symbol of transparency and accountability provided by GuideStar USA Inc., the premier source of nonprofit information. This level demonstrates WHAV’s deep commitment to nonprofit transparency and accountability.

“As a news organization, WHAV seeks transparency and accountability. It is only fitting WHAV does the same,” said President and General Manager Tim Coco. “As a GuideStar Exchange participant, WHAV uses the platform to share information about its work to supporters and GuideStar’s immense online audience of nonprofits, grantmakers, individual donors and the media.”

The GuideStar Exchange is an initiative designed to connect nonprofits with current and potential supporters. With millions of people coming to GuideStar to learn more about nonprofit organizations, the GuideStar Exchange allows nonprofits to share a wealth of up-to-date information with GuideStar’s many audiences.

The WHAV call letters have been associated with local broadcasting since 1947. WHAV is today operated by Public Media of New England Inc., a not-for-profit corporation. Since 2004, the call has served the Merrimack Valley’s pioneer Internet radio station at WHAV.net and a number of public access cable television stations in Andover, Haverhill and Methuen, and Plaistow and Sandown, N.H.
