Rillie G. (Bernard) Harris, 94, longtime Groveland resident, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, at Anna Jaques Hospital, Newburyport. She was the wife of the late Surgeon Kendall Harris, who died April 24, 1995.
Born in Unionvale, Prince Edward Island, Canada, March 19, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Eldon C. and Mary (Buchanan) Bernard. Rillie provided Home Day Care services to many residents of the Merrimack Valley. Since September, 2011, Rillie had been a resident of Haverhill Crossings, where she felt completely at home and received the same kind, loving care that she provided for others.
Her survivors include her four daughters, Melita J. Hutchings and husband Vincent of Groveland; Carole G. Landoll and husband Thomas of Carthege, N.C.; Dale A. Harris and Thomas Szeliga of St. John, New Brunswick, Canada; and Karen M. Fronterotta, her caregiver, and husband Anthony of Kingston, N.H.; a son, Kenneth A. Harris and wife Cheryl of Northwood, N.H.; along with nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, several generations of nieces and nephews and extended family in Canada. She was predeceased by her son, Brian D. Harris of Methuen, who died in 2011.
A period of visitation will be held at the Paul C. Rogers-Carnevale Family Funeral Home, 334 Main Street, Haverhill Friday, Jan. 9, from 9 to 10 a.m. immediately followed by services at 10 with burial at the Riverview Cemetery in Groveland.
