Schools to Open Despite Below Zero Temperatures

Yes, despite a forecast of below zero temperatures, there is school Thursday.

WHAV meteorologist Gary Best says morning temperatures will be around five degrees below zero with “dangerous wind chills.”

Haverhill Mayor James J. Fiorentini said school Superintendent James F. Scully conferred with other area superintendents Wednesday afternoon.

“School buses will be warmed up one hour early to be warm when they pick up the children. The schools will take additional precautions at the schools tonight to avoid freeze ups. If there are any changes they will be posted on the site and on the Haverhill public school site,” Fiorentini said.
