‘Rabid and Dangerous’ Coyote Strikes in Groveland

Police in Groveland are alerting local residents to an ongoing search for a coyote considered to be “rabid and dangerous.”

According to Groveland Police, two separate coyote encounters with residents took place Monday night. The first happened on Manor Drive, where a man was entering his home when a coyote came upon him and bit him before running off. The second incident a short time later on Gardner Street, where a homeowner reported an aggressive coyote approached him in his yard, and according to police, had to kick the animal more than once before it left the area.

Authorities in Groveland advise residents to be watchful and use extra care outdoors for the safety of children, pets and themselves. They said any contact with the coyote will require medical attention. Anyone with information about any coyote sighting are asked to call Groveland Police by dialing 911 from within that town.
