Brendan P. ‘Bongo’ Trainor, 80, Korean War Veteran

Brendan P. “Bongo” Trainor, 80, lifelong resident of Haverhill, passed away Sunday morning, Jan. 4.

Trainor was born in Haverhill Dec. 10, 1934, son of the late Peter and Marie (Donovan) Trainor. He attended Sacred Hearts School and Haverhill Trade School. He is a Veteran of the Korean War, having served proudly with the United States Navy.

Loving husband of the late Barbara (Fanaras) Trainor who passed on January 6, 1985. Trainor worked as a Teamster Truck Driver until his retirement.

Very active in many organizations that include, the Bradford Social and Athletic Club, American Legion Post of Plaistow, N.H., Crescent Yacht Club, Italian-American Club, VFW and DAV.

Surviving family members include his children, Debbie Trainor Dunn and husband Stephen of Moultonborough, N.H. formerly of York, Maine, and Peter Trainor of Haverhill; siblings, Daniel Trainor and wife Maureen of Bradford, Dr. Patricia Trainor O’Malley of Bradford and John Trainor of Fla.; daughter in-law Mary Trainor; nine grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Gary Trainor and brother of the late Kevin Trainor.

His Funeral will be Wednesday, Jan. 7, beginning in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 South Main Street, Bradford at 11:00 a.m. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford at noon.

Interment with U.S. Navy Funeral Honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Primrose Street, Haverhill.

Calling hours will be Tuesday in the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. Courtesy transportation to the visitation will be provided on request by calling Patrick Driscoll at (978) 374-0000.
