Douglas C. Glennie, 69, Vietnam Veteran

Douglas C. Glennie, 69, of Haverhill died Dec. 31,at Lawrence General Hospital.

Born in Lawrence,and raised and educated in Andover, he was the son of the late C. Douglas and Gertrude (Crosby) Glennie, he graduated from Andover High School with the Class of 1963 and attended the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

Glennie served in the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge from the military, he was employed in the milk plant and ice cream production for the family business, Glennie’s Diary, North Andover. Glennie was later employed at Foss Manufacturing, Covanta Inc. and Clear Harbor. He was most recently employed at Basement Systems of New Hampshire from where he retired.

Glennie enjoyed reading and taking walks. He also enjoyed trips to the ocean but most enjoyed the trips he took and time spent with family.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Estelle V. (Goulet) Glennie, two sons, Steven Glennie of New Hampshire, and Douglas C. Glennie of Glen Falls, N.Y., his step son, Daniel Gorton of New Hampshire, his daughter-in-law, Kristin Gorton of Middleton, N.H., his sister, Sandra Getgood of Brideport, Conn., seven grandchildren, Jason Gorton, Jacob Gorton, Jared Gorton, Evan Gorton, Meghan Glennie, Nathan Glennie, and Cameron Glennie, and a niece and nephew. He was predeceased by his step son, Stephen Gorton.
