Groveland Police Arrest Haverhill Woman After House Crash

Groveland Police arrested a Haverhill woman late Wednesday night after she allegedly drove a vehicle into a house in town while under the influence of narcotics.

Krystyna A. Ewart, 46, of Haverhill was arrested at the scene and charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs (second offense), negligent operation of a motor vehicle as to endanger and marked lanes violation, according to Police Chief Robert Kirmelewicz.

Groveland Police responded to an address on School Street around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, for a report of a motor vehicle into a house. Upon arrival, Officer Joshua Sindoni found a vehicle had crashed through a fire hydrant, continued through a fence and crashed into the foundation of the house.

The Groveland Fire Department responded to assess Ewart and the condition of the house. Ewart was uninjured. The occupants of the house were likewise not harmed and the house received some damage to the foundation, but the building was not destroyed.

Ewart was the operator, and police said she was speaking with slurred speech and moving unsteadily.

Ewart made statements indicating she had taken Valium or Xanax. She failed several field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested. Ewart was held without bail overnight and has an open OUI drugs case pending in Haverhill, She will be arraigned on these new charges on Friday in Haverhill District Court.
