Thomas P. Torrisi, 77, of Jackson Lumber/Millwork

Thomas P. Torrisi, 77, died Monday, Dec. 29, at  Lawrence General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Lawrence May 28, 1937, and was the son of the late Joseph A. and Carmel N. (Torrisi) Torrisi. He attended Central Catholic and graduated from Tilton Academy, Tilton, N.H., and graduated from Bryant Stratton College. He served in the US Army in the 324th Ordinance Unit during the Cuban Crisis followed by several years in the U.S. Army Reserves.

Torrisi worked at his family business Jackson Lumber/Millwork for many years until he retired.

He leaves his wife of 53 years Maria M. (Peggy) Smith Torrisi, his son Joseph A. Torrisi and his wife Elizabeth of West Newbury, his son Lawrence P. Torrisi of Haverhill, his daughter Maureen A. Moran and her husband Joseph of Leesburg, Virg., his son, Michael T. Torrisi and his wife Julie of West Newbury, 11 Grandchildren, Katharine, Abigail, Madeline, Rebecca, Brandon, Jacqueline, Megan, Olivia, William, Michael and Thomas. Thomas also leaves his sister Constance M. Miragliotta of North Andover and Brother Alfred J Torrisi of Atkinson, N.H.; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Maria E. Torrisi, Lawrence P. Smith and his wife Linda, Arthur B. Smith and his partner Gary Dunn, Patrick Smith and his wife Joan, Kathy Burke and her husband David, Barbara Casey and her husband William, Cornelius Smith and his wife Ann Marie, Mary-Ellen Beshara and her husband Richard, Richard Smith and his wife Maureen, Francis Smith, Paul Smith and his wife Kate, Christine Burke and her husband Thomas, Elizabeth Ann Seaton Smith and her wife Mary Johnson. Thomas leaves many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews and cousins as well.

He was predeceased by his brother-in-laws Joseph Miragliotta, James Smith and Frederick Smith

Torrisi was a member of the Knights of Columbus Andover and was a past Grand Night, 4th Degree Knight of Lawrence, Andover Lions Club, Andover Exchange Club – Secretary, and Lawrence Exchange Club. He enjoyed playing golf in his earlier years, photography, and spending time with his family. He will be missed by all, but we will always have loving memories of him.

Family and friends may call Thursday, Jan. 1, from 3 to 7 p.m., at the Cataudella Funeral Home, 126 Pleasant Valley Street, Methuen, MA 01844. Funeral Services will begin at 9 a.m., Friday Jan. 2, at Cataudella Funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St Michael’s Church, 196 Main Street, North Andover, MA 01845 with burial immediately following at Mary Immaculate Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thomas P. Torrisi memorial scholarship fund at Central Catholic, 300 Hampshire Street, Lawrence, MA 01841.
