Police Investigate Sacred Hearts’ Baby Jesus Theft, Vandalism

Sacred Hearts Pastor John Delaney said Brenda Burns donated a replacement Jesus for the manger display.

Haverhill Police have scheduled a news conference for later this morning to ask the public’s help to find those responsible for the vandalism of a nativity scene early Thursday outside Sacred Hearts Church in the Bradford section. WHAV plans to carry the press conference live at about 10 a.m.

According to detective Lieutenant Robert P. Pistone, police spokesperson, in the early morning hours, someone stole a statue of baby Jesus out of the manger/nativity display in front of Sacred Hearts Church South Main St Haverhill, and placed a real pig’s head in the place of the Baby Jesus statue.

Police are investigating, and have not released further details at this time. Anyone with information about the nativity scene vandalism is asked to contact Haverhill Police.

This is a developing story.
