Wingate Lobbies for Public Support

A developer is apparently heeding Haverhill City Council advice to win support for its proposed 90-unit congregate care housing complex off North Avenue.

Developer Continental Wingate Development Co. hosts an information session on the proposed plan Monday, Jan. 5, 11:30 a.m., at the Citizens Center, 10 Welcome St.

Councilors postponed action on the company’s plans earlier this month. The project includes 20 supported independent apartments, 24 memory care apartments and 46 assisted living apartments.

The public is invited to attend, and refreshments will be served.

  1. I am a bit confused as to the objections for this project. We are all getting old and will need a place to live. These facilities are a wonderful option for seniors who no longer want to own a home and for those who can no longer take care of their home. They are a needed entity in our cities as a place for elders to live where they can be cared for in a clean and safe environment. I know of many of these facilities and they are very well maintained and do a lot for the community where they are located.
