Haverhill Mayor James J. Fiorentini at the Massachusetts Municipal Association holiday event last week.

Haverhill Mayor James J. Fiorentini is set to take the reins as president of the Massachusetts Mayor’s Association.

Fiorentini served as first vice president of the Boston-based municipal group during 2014. The group is part of the Massachusetts Municipal Association, a non-profit group representing cities and towns across the commonwealth.

The association allows municipal leaders to share ideas and access such documents as state local aid calculations, municipal finance rules and guidelines and more. Leaders may also participate in advocacy including sending letters and offering testimony on key issues before the legislature.

The group’s annual meeting is Saturday, Jan. 24.
