The Haverhill City Council is being asked to accept a street within a housing development as a public way.
On the council agenda, a petition from Russell F. Ahern, manager for developer RFACO, LLC, asking the city to accept Riverdale Avenue Extension as a public way. The petition is returning to the council following a favorable recommendation from the Haverhill Planning Board. That panel’s approval came as a result of a hearing held last month to release an escrow for work completed at the Phillips Crossing subdivision.
According to minutes of the board meeting, city engineer John Pettis III had communicated that “if any small item were missed that he would make sure that it would get addressed before the council meeting.” Prior to the planning board meeting, a Riverdale Avenue resident raised concerns in a letter to city officials over alleged unresolved construction issues, including an incorrect sprinkler system installation and ground settling issues which led to ruts in a driveway and tilting front steps at her home.
The Haverhill City Council meets at 7 p.m., Tuesday, in council chambers at Haverhill City Hall.
