Police Arrest Man Who Allegedly Donned Disguise to Elude Capture

A Haverhill man is due to be arraigned in Haverhill District Court on charges in connection with an investigation of an alleged assault, and for allegedly trying to elude police custody.

Haverhill Police report 25-year-old Bryan Sweeney of Haverhill was arrested shortly after 10 a.m., Sunday, at 30 Primrose St. He was taken into custody on a warrant for assault and battery, as well as on charges of giving a false name to police and disguise to obstruct justice.

In other police news, a Haverhill man was arrested Saturday in connection with an alleged disturbance on High Street. Haverhill Police report 36-year-old Lawrence Greene of Haverhill was taken into custody shortly before noon, Saturday, on a charge of threats to commit a crime. He is due to be arraigned in Haverhill District Court.

Two people are to face shoplifting charges from Haverhill Police following their arrests in separate investigations. Haverhill Police report 29-year-old Meghan Southa of Merrimac was taken into custody at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, at police headquarters. She is charged with a single count of shoplifting. She was also arrested on two outstanding warrants.

On Friday, police arrested 49-year-old William Jones of Haverhill at Westgate shopping plaza, 400 Lowell Avenue. He is facing a single count of shoplifting.
