Ellen (Sullivan) Dellea, 93

Ellen (Sullivan) Dellea, 93, of Haverhill, passed away Nov. 23, with her family by her side.

She was born in Sparrows Point, Md., June 16, 1921, daughter of Francis and Honorah (Doherty) Sullivan. Ellen was raised in Malden. She attended St. Mary’s High in Melrose and Salem Teachers’ College. “En” was the mother of 12 children and a working partner in her husband’s business, Dellea and Sullivan Transportation. She loved her family and was cherished by them all.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband John Dellea, siblings Frank and Bob Sullivan and three sons, Tommy, William and Joe. Her survivors include; a brother Thomas Sullivan, four first cousins (Theresa, Jeanne, Anne Marie and Adele), 10 children, 31 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and many cousins, nephews and nieces. Dellea’s surviving children and their spouses are: Ann and Larry (Hemard), David and Dawna, Chris and Carol, Katy and Richard (Bloch), Timothy and Cindy, Charles and Rachel, Patricia and Richard (LaBombard), Michael and Nancy, Bernard and Valerie, and Sara and Tom (Jones). Bethania Schlosser was Dellea’s loving and devoted caregiver for eight years.

Visiting hours will be Friday, Nov. 28, 4 to 8 p.m. at Farmer & Sons, 106 Summer St, Haverhill. A funeral Mass will be held Saturday, Nov. 29, at 11 a.m. in St. James Church, Haverhill. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice.
