Ida J. (LaRosa) Anzaldi, 82, longtime Haverhill resident, passed away peacefully Sunday evening, Nov. 23, at Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Haverhill, surrounded by her loving family. She left us to enter Heaven’s Gates with her apron covered in flour and sauce, carrying a tray of cookies in one hand and a plate of raviolis in the other.
Born in Methuen, Sept. 22, 1932, she was the daughter of the late John and Amelia (Spero) LaRosa. She was a graduate of Haverhill High School and for many years, worked as a process checker at the former Western Electric.
Family was Ida’s first priority. Her life was filled with love and passion for both family and food. Many loving times were shared with her husband Tony, collaborating on projects such as homemade pasta productions and gingerbread villages. Family and friends were the beneficiaries of their labor and her pursuit of holiday perfection.
In addition to the love of her life, her husband of 63 years, Anthony J. Anzaldi of Haverhill, she leaves behind her daughter, Paula Scatamacchia and husband Robert of Bradford; two sons, Anthony J. Anzaldi of Haverhill and John M. Anzaldi and wife Genn of Jackson, N.H.; six grandchildren who simply adored her, Derek Scatamacchia and wife Kerri of Haverhill; Justin Scatamacchia and wife Cara of Atkinson, N.H.; Tara Balukas and husband Rocky of Haverhill; Michael A. Scatamacchia of Haverhill; and Amelia and Jocelyn Anzaldi both of Jackson, NH; her four great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Aubrie, Olivia and Taylor; a brother, Joseph LaRosa and wife Joyce of Haverhill; along with several generations of nieces and nephews and many, dear, dear friends. Her faithful Westie, Bianca, who was not just the family dog, but a member of the family, was always by her side and the sadness in her eyes reflects the feelings of everyone who loved Ida.
She will be fondly remembered by everyone whose lives she enriched with her beautiful smile, her caring, thoughtful ways, and her genuine love of family.
A period of visitation will be held Friday, Nov. 28, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Paul C. Rogers Family-Carnevale Funeral Home, 334 Main Street, Haverhill immediately followed by services at the funeral home at 6 p.m. By request of the family, interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the the Merrimack Valley Hospice House 360 North Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01830.
