The interim director at the Haverhill Public Library has yet to say whether or not she will apply as a candidate for the permanent position.

In an e-mail reply to an inquiry by WHAV, interim library Director Sarah I. Moser did not directly answer if she would be a candidate in an ongoing search by the library’s trustees for a permanent director. However, in a statement, she said, “The mayor and board of trustees have posted the director’s position externally and are hoping to attract some great candidates.”

“In the meantime, myself and the rest of the library staff are continuing to make changes and updates to HPL in order to better serve the public. We are committed to the idea that HPL is a cutting edge library, offering great products and services to the public. We’re excited for the future and feel confident that whomever is leading HPL will help us achieve our goals,” Moser said.

Earlier this month, the city and library trustees posted the job opening for a permanent, full-time Library Director. The full-time position oversees approximately 25 full-time employees and 30 volunteers, and is responsible for supervision of department heads, division heads and office staff. The salary range is between $72,491 and $84,048 per year.

WHAV was the first to report Moser’s appointment as interim director, filling the position left by Carol Verny, who retired last July.
