Haverhill Man Faces Charge of Assault on Police Officer

A Haverhill man is charged with assault after police responded to a disturbance Sunday afternoon on Portland Street.

Haverhill Police report 33-year-old Justin Alder of Haverhill was arrested shortly before 2 p.m. He is charged with assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He is due to be arraigned on the charges in Haverhill District Court.

In other police news, two people are due in court to face drug-impaired driving charges in separate arrests by Haverhill Police over the weekend.

Haverhill Police report 35-year-old Trisha Denoncourt of Haverhill was arrested shortly after 5 p.m., Saturday, at 784 River Street. She is charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs (second offense) and possession of class A and class B substances.

On Friday night, police arrested 24-year-old Matthew Ledoux of Merrimac during a traffic stop shortly after 9:30 p.m. at 19 Eastland Terrace. He is facing a single count of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs. No further details are available.

An Amesbury woman is accused of shoplifting Friday night from a store in Lafayette Square. Haverhill Police report 22-year-old Haleigh Carabineris of Amesbury was arrested at 9:15 p.m., Friday, on a charge of shoplifting by concealment. She is due to be arraigned in Haverhill District Court.
