The town of Sandown, New Hampshire, is accepting public comments until Dec. 3 on a draft update of the Sandown Hazard Mitigation Plan.
According to town documents, The “Sandown Hazard Mitigation Plan Update 2014” was compiled to assist the town in reducing and mitigating future losses from natural and/or man-made hazard events. The town is required to update the plan every five years.
The plan, intended to address critical town facilities and hazards from flooding and severe weather to wildfires or earthquakes, was developed by the Rockingham Planning Commission and the Town of Sandown. It contains the tools necessary to identify specific hazards and aspects of existing and future mitigation efforts.
There is a requirement to update the Hazardous Mitigation Plan every five years. The plan is part of a contract with N.H. Homeland Security and Emergency Management. The draft plan may be seen here. Comments or concerns may be left with the selectmen’s office.
